What The Role Delivers
AgroFresh is looking for a Laboratory Scientist R&D to join the R&D Innovation Center. This position, reporting to the Innovation Center Lab Manager, is ideally suited to experienced individuals who are thrilled to conduct in vitro and in vivo screening trials to develop novel solutions (fungicides, biologicals, growth regulators etc.) that help reduce food waste and enhance the freshness and quality of specialty crops.
Key Responsibilities
In order of relative importance
1. Organize and conduct autonomously, in vitro and in vivo screening trials to test the efficacy of newly discovered solutions for extending storage and shelf life of fresh produce.
2. Maintain and implement existing laboratory spaces, instruments, procedures including GEP certification.
3. Edit study reports in English and present results to the global team within the given deadlines.
4. Identify new opportunities or applications for the AgroFresh product line or any new food preservation quality and freshness-extension systems that may be under evaluation and provide input on formulating and evaluating them for efficacy and developing into end use products.

What The Job Requires
1. Master's degree in Horticulture, Natural Science, Biology or Biotechnology related field; PhD is a plus.
2. 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role conducting experimental trials within the industry.
3. Knowledge of microbiology techniques.
4. Good knowledge in data collection, organization and analysis.
5. Good understanding of the post-harvest industry and fresh produce physiology.
6. Fluent in English.
7. Experience in working according to GEP and GLP guidelines is a plus.
8. Practice in Molecular Biology is a plus.
9. Strong sense of safety in laboratory and field settings.
10. High degree of integrity and ethical conduct.
11. Capacity to “think outside the box” and be accountable for results.
12. Team player.
13. Time management skills.
