The British School of Barcelona (BSB) is a great school in a wonderful location. We are an HMC school and were judged by a recent BSO (British Schools Overseas) Inspection to be outstanding in every area, including quality of education, safeguarding, pupil welfare, and academic outcomes.
We are based in three locations, two just outside the city of Barcelona – in Castelldefels, where we have a Primary, Secondary, and Pre-University campus, and in the cosmopolitan town of Sitges, where we have another Primary campus. BSB City is in the heart of the city of Barcelona itself with a Foundation campus (built September 2021), and a brand-new main campus which opened in September 2023. Over 2000 pupils from more than 74 nationalities attend the school across the three campuses and over 315 staff work at BSB.

About the role
We are looking for a full-time, permanent Controlling & FP&A Manager to start as soon as possible.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking organization, playing a pivotal role in shaping the financial and strategic direction of the school. While the role requires autonomy and initiative, you will benefit from the support and expertise of senior leadership team members as well as central office colleagues.

The role will involve:
Budgeting and Forecasting
* Act as the main liaison for the preparation of the annual budget, coordinating input from all relevant stakeholders to ensure completeness and alignment. This includes budgets for P&L, cash flow, and CAPEX.
* Ensure adherence to the agreed 5Y Plan and be able to bridge any differences.
* Analyse and forecast together with Admissions Manager pupil numbers and associated fee income.
Financial Analysis and Monitoring
* Monitor capital expenditure (CAPEX) to ensure alignment with financial objectives. Monthly reporting to Business Manager and SCP.
* Manage, oversee and report cash flow.
* Staff: monthly review of payroll and preparation of all documents to proceed with payments.
* Perform comprehensive financial analyses focusing on key areas, such as Fees, Other income, Staff costs, Catering, cleaning & maintenance.
* Review monthly budget monitoring statements for accuracy, distribute them to budget holders, and highlight, discuss and challenge any significant variations.
Financial Management and Auditing
* Oversee overall financial management with always visibility on CAPEX, CASHFLOW & P&L.
* Support on the Auditors during the audit process on all the requests under the controlling scope.
Business Planning and Strategic Support
* Support the execution of business cases for expansions or acquisitions, providing thorough financial evaluations.
* Respond to ad hoc requests from stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate information.
