Aistech Space is focused on generating affordable, recurrent, high resolution thermal imagery of the planet to provide a new perspective of Earths changing resources. What you will do : In Aistech Space BCN, we are looking for a Senior Optics Test Engineer to contribute to the development of optical systems for space applications. The ideal candidate has worked on the development of reflective and refractive optical systems, with a strong background in testing and validation of optical systems. As the Optics Test Engineer, you will be working in an R&D environment, requiring a strong understanding of laboratory management and equipment procurement. You will analyse data using Python and report your findings to the team. The ideal candidate for this role is self motivated, possesses communication and organisational skills, and is eager to keep up to date with novel testing equipment and techniques. In this role, you are expected to work as a team functioning as an agile, highly collaborative unit. You will also be responsible to follow internal standards and good practices in terms of project management, documentation and time management following an agile approach in your daily work. Key objectives to be achieved during the rotational period : Understand Aistech Space mission objectives. Create new test setups. Manage the laboratory and equipment procurement. Report findings to the team. Conceptual design of testing setups, including trade offs. Optical system integration and test support. Strong laboratory measurement skills. Design, build, and validate optical alignment. Experience with electro optic and opto electronic components and modules. Draft acceptance test procedures and review data to verify compliance to requirements and specifications. Collaboration in a multidisciplinary team, e.g. for mechanical, opto mechanical, thermal and electro optical aspects. Who you are : Must : MS and / or PhD in Optics or similar field of study. Interest in space technologies. Hands on experience with testing, alignment, and troubleshooting of optical component and system metrology. Experience in image quality testing. Experience taking a concept from feasibility prototype to production. Demonstrable understanding of radiometric, thermal, and structural effects on optical performance metrics. Problem solving attitude. Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English. Strong sense of responsibility and dependability. Nice to have : Open minded optical engineer with 3 5 years demonstrated experience in optical system design for satellite projects is desirable. Experience in designing optical elements oriented to imaging applications will be a plus. Experience with optical design software such as Zemax or CodeV will be a plus.
