Your Role
We are looking for a Process Engineer for the operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing process engineering professional and technical support to the operational/manufacturing function. A Process Engineer is a specialist in their function and in a specific product category and therefore must have a deep understanding of the product properties, engineering and quality aspects. You must understand that you are part of a team made up of the various manufacturing functions, especially Production and Quality Management.
What you will do
Main Responsibilities:
1. Liaise with Packaging, New Product Development, Production, Quality Management, and Marketing to resolve technical issues.
2. Capture and disseminate engineering and material knowledge while managing confidentiality when dealing with proprietary know-how.
3. Specify any maintenance requirements, procedures, and checks which relate to the process lines.
4. Manage/control a database relating to process engineering.
Responsibilities relating to Continuous Improvement:
1. Initiate and drive Continuous Improvement. This must not be limited to machinery and assets but must also include systems, processes, methods, organization, staffing, and employee skill levels.
2. Drive the correction of process-related product quality and/or operational performance deviations.
3. Ensure that all optimization projects are directed towards "low cost, highly efficient" operation and are in line with the business strategy.
4. Ensure that both operators and trades have sufficient process and plant function knowledge to optimize the operation of the plant and the manufacture of quality product.
5. Manage continuous improvement, networking, and sharing information in such a way that it becomes a key pillar of the engineering culture.
Responsibilities relating to Innovation & Renovation:
1. Continuously challenge the way things are done and be always looking for opportunities.
2. Work alongside Marketing to ensure a common objective and focus in regards to the product.
3. Facilitate and coordinate the introduction and implementation of new processes/technologies with local and corporate engineering.
Responsibilities relating to Hygienic Engineering:
1. Ensure that the operators and mechanics, who are the ones closest to the product, receive direct on the line coaching in machinery and line operation skills such that they understand why Hygienic Engineering is relevant to our business.
2. Understand the risks and regulations (internal, external) associated with a particular operation.
3. Operate and use equipment in a food-safe manner.
4. Respect the building plans and zoning.
5. Build for cleaning and to clean.
6. Repair, maintain, and improve efficiently in a food-safe manner.
Ensure that all the process equipment is hygienically designed and easy to clean, thereby preventing such hazards as microbiological, chemical, or physical contamination.
What we are looking for:
* Proven experience in a process engineer position, ideally with more than 3 years in a related or equivalent position.
* Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or similar.
* Fluent in English and Spanish.
* Experience in the continuous improvement area.
