Senior Automation Engineer

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Automation Engineer to lead R&D initiatives, drive standardization, and provide technical expertise across automation projects. This role is integral in advancing our automation technologies, optimizing departmental procedures, and supporting complex production projects.
Key responsibilities
* R&D and Innovation: Lead research and development in automation for new technologies applied to our machine portfolio, including platform software upgrades, LMS, cybersecurity, RFID, IO-Link, and energy measurement systems.
* Program Standardization: Develop and implement standardized automation programs to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects.
* Department Leadership: Oversee departmental procedures and organization, including lean practices, ISO compliance, documentation, and tools/backups management.
* Technical Support for Startups: Provide sales and project management teams with technical support for startup projects and new sales opportunities.
* Global Networking and Intercommunication: Lead SIG procedures related to global networking, version control, tool sharing, and cybersecurity.
* Complex Project Support: Offer advanced technical expertise and production support for complex and high-impact projects.
You bring these skills, experience & education
* Degree in Technical Engineering or Higher Education in Automation and Industrial Control or a related field.
* Previous experience in programming industrial machinery, preferably in the packaging or manufacturing sector.
* Strong knowledge of PLC programming languages and motion control systems, preferably with Siemens and Rockwell platforms.
* Solid understanding of electrical and pneumatic schematics to comprehend the interconnection of components and systems in industrial machinery.
* Familiarity with industrial safety regulations and standards applicable to packaging machinery.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Fluent English skills (spoken and written) to communicate effectively with international teams and access technical resources.
* Availability for occasional travel as required by project needs.
