Job Summary:
We are looking for a talented, and highly motivated engineer who will be responsible for bringing new products to market reality whilst ensuring high levels of quality to current products. Come join a team of deeply knowledgeable engineers that strive to build the most robust and reliable motion control systems using cutting-edge development tools and practices.
The selected engineer will be either focused on developing and maintaining a set of Desktop Applications (HMI) or on motion control design and development (python modules and desktop applications).
In both cases you would be programming in Python with QT framework.
These Applications provide a set of advanced tools to help our customers to do the commission and tuning of our products (servo-drivers, feedback sensors, or motors) in an easy way.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain a set of advanced Desktop Human Machine Interface Tools or set of libraries and desktop tools.
* Write internal documentation for Novanta software platforms. (Architecture, Detailed Design, etc.).
* Define, in conjunction with the Quality Assurance team, the Test Plans for Ingenia software products.
Required Experience and Education:
* MS or PhD in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Control / Robotics Engineering or technical related discipline.
* Minimum experience 2+ years.
Skills and Competencies:
* Fluent with Object-Oriented Design in Python.
* Experience developing Graphical User Interface using PyQt or PySide and Model–View–Controller design pattern. Or alternatively, motion control knowledge (motor types, feedback sensors, controls, etc.).
* Experience in source code control for software development (i.e. Subversion, Git, etc.).
* Experience in software testing procedures.
* Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
* Personal interest in the Robotics / Motion Control field.
