The Institute
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed of an interdisciplinary, motivated, and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.
The User-oriented IT Technician will work with the other IT team members, dealing with any user-oriented tasks. Part of the work is likely to be in the helpdesk area, answering user requests. The rest of the time will be distributed between training and system administration user-oriented tasks (cybersecurity, networking, Office 365, etc.)
Main Responsibilities:
* Helpdesk:
o Provide general IT support to users and triage issues to more specialist team members.
o Installation and support of computer hardware and software, AV equipment in meeting rooms, printers, telephony, and mobile devices.
o Maintain the inventory database of all IT equipment and software.
* Systems Administration:
o Management and support of user-oriented services provided by the IT department including Email, Office 365, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Active Directory, etc.
o Management of the IT infrastructure including network switches and firewalls.
* User Training:
o Organization of user training related to any IT services, in collaboration with the Training & Academic Office.
o Review of the IT documentation.
About the Department:
The IT Department is responsible for providing IT services to over 500 users (employees or collaborators) located in Barcelona Biomedical Research Park – PRBB. The department is divided into 3 areas: the Helpdesk team - responsible for direct support to the user, the Systems Administration team - in charge of administrating all the IT systems, and the Web team - responsible for web development and support.
Whom Would We Like to Hire?
Professional Experience
Must Have:
* Bachelor's degree in computing, Telecommunications, or a similar degree.
* Basic experience in IT Systems Administration.
* Ability to effectively explain technical issues to non-technical users.
* Ability to provide a high-quality customer-focused IT support service.
* Knowledge of Windows 10/11, Mac OS, Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu), hardware installation, PC assembly, smartphones, audio-visuals (projectors, etc.), networks (LAN, WIFI, Firewall), Office 365 (Exchange online, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).
Desirable but Not Required:
* Experience with Cloud Technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure).
* Experience with security technologies and frameworks.
* Experience in management and monitoring tools (Nagios, Centreon, Cacti, Microsoft Systems Center).
Languages:
* Fluent in English, Spanish, and Catalan.
