About Us
AESA Prep Academy of Barcelona is an American High School in the city’s Pedralbes neighborhood. We serve students from 9th to 12th grade (14 to 18 years old). Our school prepares students to be successful in university, whether they choose to study in the United States, Europe or anywhere else in the world.
Our team currently consists of a group of education professionals of different nationalities and backgrounds, working to provide an impactful and positive learning experience to all our high school students.
The Position: Study Hall Monitor
We are seeking a motivated individual to monitor students during “Study Hall” to ensure they are working independently on academic tasks and not distracting others. The candidate will work closely with faculty to set daily goals for students.
This is an entry-level position. It is ideal for individuals who are just beginning their career in education, especially in secondary education.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Management: Keep students on task
Ensure that students prioritize their time in Study Hall to complete any assignments or make-up work, including exams.
If students have no outstanding assignments to complete, ensure they are using Study Hall to prepare for exams, read independently, work on university applications, conduct research, or engage in other academically-oriented activities.
Ensure that students are NOT using their time to talk to others, be on their phones, play video games, watch irrelevant videos, or engage in other activities not related to school or their academic futures.
Coordination with Faculty: Proactive task management
Communicate constantly with faculty members to organize tasks and set goals for individual students.
Organize this information in a clear and efficient way in Google Drive.
Update faculty on goals that students achieve.
Other Minor Responsibilities: Improving the AESA Community
Keep a bulletin board to inform students of upcoming events and activities and to celebrate our students’ academic and/or extracurricular achievements.
Assistance with wider school activities, events and initiatives.
Key Qualifications and Skills
Education
Minimum: Bachelor's degree
Preferred: Teaching certificate or currently pursuing a teaching certificate
Work Experience
Minimum: No prior teaching/education experience is required
Excellent communication skills
Minimum: Full professional proficiency (C1) in Spanish and English
Preferred: Fluency in other major world languages
Highly Organized
Proactive and solutions-oriented
Tech savvy
Currently residing in Greater Barcelona with permission to work
