GLOBAL R&D PROCUREMENT DIRECTOR BARCELONA
At MCR International, we are partnering with a leading multinational pharmaceutical company based in Barcelona. We are seeking a Global R&D Procurement Director to lead procurement strategies while managing a skilled team of seven professionals.
What your responsibilities will be
* Support the definition and execution of the Procurement R&D Category Strategy (preclinical and CRO, Diagnostic and Discovery sub-categories).
* Support the design and maintenance of a long-term Procurement Category strategy for country and regions aligned to overall business strategy.
* Provide communication, status reporting, and issue escalation support to senior management for R&D and Clinical Projects
* Build strong relationships with the R&D leadership to ensure a comprehensive strategy is developed and executed. Work as a strategic business partner to develop and prioritize procurement change programs and projects to enable delivery of the short- and long-term objectives.
* Influence and shape Category strategies, tactics and plans developed in conjunction with the global procurement team.
* Coach team in the use of sophisticated commercial models, reports and forecasts to challenge and strengthen decision making processes across the business area.
* Optimize key relationships across the company to take full advantage of efficiencies and leverage best practice.
* Network externally to ensure remains abreast of current world class thinking.
* Work in partnership with the business and Procurement colleagues to ensure that an environment of continued professional development is created, and individual and team performance is managed effectively.
* Coach, perform, manage and identify development opportunities for indirect reports, ensuring appropriate succession planning and creation of a strong development culture.

* Master’s degree, Professional Business Qualification, and extensive and significant track-record in senior strategic Procurement.
* Preferably 10 years of experience in R&D Procurement or other related experience within the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in category management, supplier management, or related area, with a focus in the preclinical and CRO management.
* Strong leadership skills, including demonstrated ability to spot & develop talent, build Procurement teams and empower others to accomplish individual and organizational objective and strong influencing skills, including being able to operate at Executive levels within the organization.
* You have the mindset and behaviors that are aligned to working in a global pharmaceutical company where compliance, reputation management and the highest ethical standards are at the heart of our values.
* You have proved successful track-record of driving performance across a complex matrix within a global enterprise and you have the ability to influence and optimize operating models for his/her functional area.
* You have the ability to influence strategically, solve problems using conceptual and analytical thinking and constructively work through conflict.
* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
* Desirable: Familiarity with the latest research and thinking. Multilingual.
