Craft: Our studio is creating the future of King games! We are championing innovation and exploring new territories in mid-core to create a AAA mobile experience. Are you looking for an exciting challenge as a Design Director for the core combat and gameplay of a midcore title? Don't hesitate and join our New Games Studio and help develop the next generation of King games!
Your role within our Kingdom:
You will have a key role in leading core combat and gameplay design across our flagship title. Specifically:
1. Being responsible for and advising the development of the core combat mechanics, systems, and gameplay experience that align with the vision of the game.
2. Being intrinsically involved across all stages of the gameplay development pipeline, from concepting, prototyping through to production and servicing.
3. Evangelizing the core combat goals and principles at every opportunity to ensure alignment and teamwork is consistent.
4. Collaborate closely with creative team leads, designers, programmers, and artists to ensure the core combat meets the highest standards of quality and engagement.
Responsibilities:
1. Leading the core gameplay and combat systems design.
2. Advising the game modes and complimentary level designs, alongside the level design and environment team.
3. Be responsible for the development of the AI bots to ensure smooth player onboarding and backfill requirements for players of all skill levels.
4. Collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to conceptualize and prototype all player characters, including novel abilities and talents and new to market core game modes that are extensible.
5. Gameplay balancing of the core combat including weapons, abilities, and character progression, in line with the game vision and business goals.
6. Giving feedback and iteration mentorship to core gameplay team members in the form of constructive feedback, to help improve the combat systems throughout the development process.
7. Working with Data scientists to derive insights across all areas of gameplay to help drive further actions and product performance.
8. Lead a diverse group of game and level designers across several locations.
9. Assist and help in conducting user testing play sessions to further refine and optimize the core gameplay.
Skills to Create Thrills:
1. Enthusiastic about games and have a fundamental understanding on what makes them fresh and fun to play.
2. Confirmed experience in core gameplay design having worked on action/combat games.
3. Having some launched/published action titles to their credit.
4. Fun and friendly to work with a strong collaborative spirit across people with a wide range of skills and backgrounds.
5. You are an active player of mobile games and have a deep knowledge of all types of game mechanics from mobile free to play to boxed AAA products.
6. Experienced in working in a constantly evolving world of game development and can develop a team through the ups and downs of making products.
7. Strong planning and organizational skills that make you able to set up, follow, and efficiently strive to conclusion key initiatives.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Able to efficiently communicate at all levels of an organization.
9. Able to clearly document game design concepts and articulate them successfully to partners at all levels.
10. You are able to empower, mentor, and train colleagues.
