About us
You will report to the Executive Legal Director and be a member of a 30-people strong function comprised of talent operating in a highly regulated environment in the areas of Legal, Corporate Governance, Compliance and Information Security. You will advance Almirall's global business, our ambition and our purpose, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations and protecting the company’s reputation. You will enable Almirall's strategic objectives by providing highly qualified, risk-based, proactive legal advice for business growth opportunities, procurement and manufacturing activities. You will apply your industry expertise to advise on pharmaceutical advertising regulation and support the review of promotional materials. You are agile, business oriented and a close partner to other functions and colleagues collaborating across geographies.
Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Serve as legal advisor to certain functions, including Procurement, Industrial Operations, R&D, Marketing and Medical Affairs, and to any assigned affiliate(s), on strategic, relevant and routine matters, providing legal guidance on projects and business opportunities and implementing key risk management strategies.
2. Provide legal advice on promotional complaints and disputes, ensuring coordination and alignment among relevant company stakeholders, and engaging and coordinating with external advisors.
3. Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including contracts for commercial transactions, consulting and other services, business development, supply agreements, R&D collaborations, agreements with health care professionals, health care organizations and patient organizations.
4. Research and advise on proposed and enacted legislation impacting pharmaceutical companies relating to regulatory matters, pharma products promotional compliance as well as transparency laws, and educate internal business partners on compliance trends.
5. Draft and maintain relevant and updated contract templates and playbooks for delegation of contract management responsibilities that are routine and less complex.
6. Train and guide business teams on the use of contract templates, playbooks, relevant legal issues, and good contracting practices.
7. Work collaboratively with others in the function to develop, implement and monitor policies, processes and procedures.
8. Collaborate with others in the function seeking harmonization of legal and risk management advice and to ensure consistency and alignment with the company's legal strategy and standards.
9. Work closely and manage relationships with legal service providers as directed to ensure that the best services are provided to the company at reasonable cost.
10. Collaborate with colleagues on projects for standardization and efficiency.
11. Collaborate to the responsible management of the legal budget.
Education
* University and master’s degrees in law and active bar membership in Spain.
Experience
* Minimum 8 years of experience in legal counselling positions of increased responsibility within the Spanish legal system.
Specific Knowledge
* In-depth knowledge of and ability to provide business-oriented advice regarding Spanish and EU laws and regulations applicable to the company's business profile and priorities.
* Proven experience in legal roles in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry.
* Significant expertise in all areas of pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology laws and regulations as well as commercial transactions, including those relating to promotional compliance, anti-bribery, antitrust and product liability.
* Outstanding ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing), provide sound legal advice to non-lawyers, coupled with a strong understanding of business needs.
* Advanced contract drafting and redlining skills with strong attention to detail.
* Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and still meet high quality and timeliness standards.
* Ability to effectively select and manage outside counsel and adhere to a budget.
* Fluent level of English and Spanish both oral and written with the capacity to communicate with conviction and self-confidence.
* Experience acting as cross-functional legal advisor.
* Highly adept at understanding and resolving challenging legal issues through the delivery of sound, clear, and practical advice.
* Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with executives and other business partners.
* Strong organizational and time management skills to balance working on multiple projects in parallel.
* Self-directed individual who can work in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-volume environment and meet deadlines. Self-motivated, able to work independently and as a strong team player, and be reliable and responsive.
