The Brief: My client is to invest in its own Spanish facilities, which will house a showroom, workshop, and training facility dedicated to plastic molding equipment. To facilitate this investment, they seek to engage a Managing Director, located close to Barcelona, Spain. This attractive opportunity requires an executive profile with considerable exposure to the Spanish plastics sector, ideally with proven experience in mold processing solutions, tooling, and ancillary equipment. The post reports to the President EMEA.
Job Purpose
The Managing Director serves as the strategic and operational leader of a subsidiary, ensuring the alignment of the company’s global objectives with local market demands. The role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of subsidiary operations, including financial performance, customer relations, employee management, and adherence to company policies and procedures. This position requires a proactive approach to leadership, exceptional organisational skills, and a commitment to promoting the group's core values and business objectives.
The selected candidate will drive all aspects of the business, creating an environment that motivates its people to deliver complex solutions to its customers. At the same time, every customer is to receive the highest possible service levels and communication, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, repeat business, and opportunities elsewhere within the client's group of companies.
Key Responsibilities

3. Devise and implement a strategy that reflects the group's expectations for each individual region.
4. Support all sales and commercial staff to achieve goals and increase market share.
5. Investigate market segments to identify areas for growth – devise a plan of how to best introduce the business to these sectors and identify the investment needed.
6. Identify market trends and review how these can be adopted to improve sales and customer satisfaction.
7. Provide training, coaching, and support to all staff, including firsthand contact with customers on new business and relationship-building opportunities.
8. Attend key trade exhibitions, seminars, and events that present the opportunity to promote the business.

Qualifications and Competencies
As a minimum, applicants will have achieved a Degree level education or higher, combined with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a senior leadership role. It is also expected that candidates offer a proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, and team leadership.

Other Requirements
Ability to travel as necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of the role. Fluency in Spanish and English, with the ability to negotiate and communicate effectively at all levels, is mandatory. The ability to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish is critical.
